ART 210/212: Art History

A brief overview on researching textual and visual resources within the discipline of Art History.

Access Georgetown College books

A good place to start with Art History research is in our own library.  Click here to search the catalog.

Ensor LRC uses the Library of Congress call number system.  Books related to the Fine Arts, including art history, can be found in the N section.  Sometimes it is helpful to just browse the shelves, too.

Access Other Libraries

The Ensor LRC is a great place to do research, however, it may not always meet the rigorous expectations of your art history professor.  As a student at Georgetown College, you have access to other Kentucky libraries that have larger art and art history collections.  You can access these libraries using your G-Card.  It is wise to check on each library's policies before going for an in-person visit.

Here are some good options:

The Lucille Caudill Little Fine Arts Library at the University of Kentucky

The Bridwell Art Library at the University of Louisville

The Robert A. Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati

Can't find a book?

The library staff can ask another library to lend it to you.  Click here to request a book through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).   Then, you can pick it up at the LRC circulation desk.... for free.  The key to ILL is to request your book early as it can take up to 3 weeks to have the book delivered.
