Pizza and a Movie

Pizza and a movie is a great way to get together and spend time with friends. The cost of cinema tickets, pizza, drinks, and streaming services can add up quickly. What is a college student on a limited budget supposed to do? Here are some free or low-cost ways to hold a pizza and movie party.

Movies:

  • If you own or have access to a DVD player:
    •  borrow DVDs from Ensor LRC or the local public library.
    • thrift stores (such as Amen House and Goodwill) and used bookstores often sell DVDs for $3 or less.
  • Many public libraries offer access to services such as Hoopla which provides access to films as well as electronic books.
  • If you don't mind some ads, you can watch over 3,000 movies for free on YouTube. 3,000 Best Free Movies on YouTube - YouTube
  • Most Public Television Stations will let you live stream their shows if your IP address is within their geographies. KET Livestream
  • Free and low-cost streaming services.

Pizza:

  • Have a pizza potluck. Attendees bring drinks, pizzas, salads, desserts, etc. 
  • Grocery store frozen pizzas are often less expensive than delivery.
  • Make your own pizza. Here are some recipes to get you started.

 

DVDs available at Ensor LRC

Here are a faculty and staff recommendations of movies to watch that are available on DVD at Ensor LRC.  None of these strike your fancy? You can generate a complete list of DVDs owned by the library by going to the Advanced Search

  1. Enter "DVD" in the search bar and select "All fields"
  2. Under Limit your search results, unclick "print and online" and click "Catalog only"
  3. If you wish you can also limit your search result set by date of publication and language.
